Close My Eyes

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

It’s a month and a half past since my last entry here.

I would like to start off today’s post with a photo which was what I had always wanted to capture on camera. Although it is not the classic type of photo which most people are used to, it is at least better than nothing.

Lightning

I’ve photographed the full moon, sunsets, and other sorts of scenery.  And I’m pretty much surprised by what my handphone’s VGA camera can do, particularly with its colour limitation producing vivid colours.  At the time of the lightning, I was standing in the yard, listening to the best surround sound system in the world — mother nature with its 360 degrees of thunder rolling continuously at bursts lasting more than one minute.

Well, no.  That’s not the main point of this post.  You see, when I wanted to start writing this post the photo of lightning just came to mind.

It’s been raining these few days.  The good ol’ rain came during a long drive on the road, nothing dangerous but very uplifting and refreshing.  You see, I picked up my driving skills during training in heavy rain.  So whenever it rains, it takes away whatever tiredness I have when driving.

Yeah, it’s quite taxing having to work the whole week, with the next holiday a long way to go on August 31.  Everyday I just can’t wait to go back home and meet my five females — my wife, our baby girl, our dog, and my two tortoises.  Today Joleen is 1 month 3 weeks and 5 days old.

The red sliders have reached their average adult size, and if I can provide them a big space to live they can still grow further.  The mastiff is luckily not a pure breed, if it is it will grow bigger and taller than me.  Its size is just nice — bigger than the average local household dogs but not too big and heavy that it will crush my bones.

Baby Joleen’s height is now already a third of my wife’s height.  We met a baby last week who is 7 months old, and my goodness Joleen is about the same height and build with that baby!  In fact, Joleen was born bigger than most babies we had seen at the local klinik kesihatan ibu dan anak.  In the future Joleen might as well grow taller than her parents!

Well, it was such a short amount of time, one and a half months, but I had seen so many different situations and seen so many different sides of the people I knew that it seems to be quite information overload.  I had read not much news, and I had not visited any personal blog since my baby’s birth.  Though fatherhood did provide a slight different perspective of life, it was so coincidental or rather man-made opportunes to get to see different things.

O how I wish I could close my eyes and rest, and not see the things happening here and there.  Perhaps they will go away on their own.  Wishful thinking eh, but not entirely impossible.  That’s why we have the Almighty God governing the world.

RM1.85, and still no sign of RON97 here.  Geez…
